Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is an FPS game and the 15th installment of the Call of Duty series. It was released in October 2018 and is available this month on PS Plus. First off is multiplayer and the lobbies are filled with newer players. As someone who played a lot of FPS and most Call of Duty’s this was a lot easier than I thought it would be.
The maps all flow pretty well and most of them are good, there are some bad DLC ones but you don’t really want to buy the DLC for this game unless you’re playing zombies which we’ll touch on later. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 does have a wide variety of maps to choose from and speaking about variety, I guess we should touch on the Black Market.
The Black Market is a place in Call of Duty Black Ops 4 where you go and get all your DLC micro transaction stuff ranging from skins, weapons, weapon charms etc. In the Black Market there’s 2 ways to purchase items, 1 is with COD points which you buy with real money and another is with cases that you unlock by playing the game or by completing challenges.
You can earn quite a lot of these cases a day by doing the daily challenges so there’s really no need for you to buy them with COD points. The main thing you’re going to want to buy are the weapons and it’s actually quite cheap as it’s only 50 cases for a weapon. It isn’t technically pay to win because you can earn your way to these weapons and there’s a couple of weapons that are very overpowered which you should go for asap like the VMP, Daemon and the Locus.
If you grind enough, you can get these weapons early and have an advantage over your opponents. There’s something like 24 different weapons that you can unlock, they are new DLC weapons and new variants of past weapons that are already in the game. While completing the challenges to unlock these cases you can use them to buy weapons and that gives a lot of replay value to Call of Duty Black Ops 4.
You can log in every day and do your challenges. These challenges are in Multiplayer, Zombies and Blackout so there’s plenty of cases to be earned per day. The gameplay in Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is a smooth experience. The maps flow well, the weapons are quite nice and the Specialists can be annoying or overpowering at times but they do kind of fit into the game.
You will get scenarios where you get killed unnecessarily by someone using a War Machine or another Specialist ability but overall, it is a lot of fun. In Call of Duty Black Ops 4 you have quite a lot of health, they increased it from 100 to 150 health from Call of Duty Black Ops 3 but they balanced the weapons more to make up for that. You definitely have a lot of health in this game but really, it’s not that noticeable when you’re playing it and it’s not going to feel a lot different than Black Ops 3’s health system.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 allows you a chance to fight back when you’re in a gun fight because of the health unlike previous Call of Duty’s. The customization in Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is great as we have lots of camos that you can unlock from the Black Market. There’s plenty of character skins and face paints for you to unlock to keep your character unique. Blackout is Call of Duty’s first Battle Royale mode and this was a very fun mode to play. Alcatraz Portal lets you respawn in a couple of times after you died and it’s a very small area so it was quite chaotic.
Blackout brings a lot of good and unique things to the mode like zombies and they also brought a bunch of old locations back that we loved. Onto Zombies and in the PS Plus version you’re going to get three free maps and they are Voyage of Despair, Blood of the Dead and IX. Out of the free maps there’s only going to really be two that are fun. There is a lot of customization for Zombies as you have a wide variety of perks to select from unlike previous Zombie modes.
If you’re just looking for a zombie game to play where you just kill zombies and have fun this will definitely be a blast. There are a few game modes like normal Survival, Rush, where you collect points from the map and then there’s Gauntlet Mode which is 30 rounds and you do a challenge each round. In Zombies you’re also able to pick specialists like in Multiplayer so that adds to the overall Zombie experience.
If you really enjoy the Zombie mode you should definitely buy the Black Ops Pass as you’re going to get 5 extra zombie maps. In conclusion if you liked the Multiplayer of Black Ops 3 you will enjoy this game as there are lots of newer players to wreck and there’s a lot of customization that you have in all of the modes. Blackout is a lot of fun and if you want an alternate to Warzone, you should try out this mode.
For zombies I would definitely recommend you to give it a try at least and if you enjoy it you can then maybe move on to the Season Pass where you’ll get 5 different zombie maps with each one feeling pretty unique. If you are looking for a decent multiplayer experience, an alternate to Warzone or a fun Zombie experience you should definitely try out Call of Duty Black Ops 4.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 brings us a decent multiplayer experience, an alternate to Warzone and a fun Zombie experience with the Specialists and their abilities.
