Hood Outlaws and Legends is a PVP and PVE action RPG game that is available this month on PS Plus. There are 5 different characters in the game and each does their own actions like you’ve got melee, support, tank, stealth, and archer. There is a tutorial level that will let you play and learn the ropes of all 5 characters and get to grips with what the game is all about. You play as 2 teams of 4 players in 8 player lobbies and there is no single-player game mode.
Your task when you jump into Hood Outlaws and Legends is to find a sheriff and you need to pickpocket that sheriff in order to grab the key for the vault then you have to move around and locate the vault, open it up and there’s a treasure chest in there that you need to steal and because it has the PVP function you have to do it before the enemy team. The one thing about the sheriff I can say is do not get too close, the sheriff will lock onto you, pick you up, and stomp on your head for a one-hit kill.
You can’t be anywhere near the sheriff unless you are not noticed so they have to be completely unaware of you so that you can pickpocket them and rob the key. Once you have the chest, the sheriff is going to come after you and you can’t actually kill the sheriff just down him. There are all these capture points on the map and they’re going to help your team if you have control of them because they can be used as respawn points.
Each time you die your respawn timer will increase so you have to try and stay alive. Once you steal the treasure you can decide how much goes to the public and how much you keep and you need to try and find a balance with this as helping the public is going to level up your camp and it’s also going to unlock different weapon and character cosmetics but you’re going to need to keep some of the gold to buy yourself perks because you unlock perks as you level up.
Overall, Hood Outlaws and Legends has 5 different maps and in each of the buildings, there are 5 different chest locations so it varies the gameplay every match. Each team member in Hood Outlaws and Legends has a separate role for example be a lookout, sneaking around, healer, the melee tank, etc. One of John’s abilities is going to be very important for your team because he can actually lift up portcullises which are these giant gates that you can use for shortcuts.
Each of the characters will have their own important roles and I strongly recommend that you try to not duplicate roles as each has its strong points and weak points. The state or the AI will be coming to stop your escape and once the chest is at an extraction point you don’t have to pick it up and move it to another one if you manage to get your team onto the winch.
Always be on your feet when you’re playing Hood Outlaws and Legends because you can join a match already in progress and just throw you into the middle of it. Player level is very important and you will be able to see that publicly in the lobbies when you are looking for a match. As you level up you level up your character too which unlocks better perks to purchase that are going to help you in battle.
The gameplay in Hood Outlaws and Legends is intense as you are constantly engaged whether it’s battle, planning your next move, or stealing the gold. The controls in this game are very easy to understand, the game looks decent, the servers are not only smooth but they’re dedicated and there is also cross-play. I totally recommend this game simply just for the progression of your characters and your camp, the constant action, the variation, and the mix of PVP and PVE keep the player excited and it feels fresh to play.
Hood Outlaws & Legends will be available to PlayStation Plus members until Monday, May 2.
